Wedding Gift Ideas

When you hit your mid-twenties, suddenly it feels like everyone you know is getting married. It's wonderful! One of my favorite things is finding special wedding gifts for friends and family members, something unique I hope the couple will cherish for years to come. I thought it would be fun to gather up some of my favorite wedding gift ideas today, to provide a little inspiration in case you have some weddings coming up on your calendars. (I may even make this a regular series, as I'm always finding new shops and pretty things, and there's always another wedding to go to, right?)

So here we go!

Studiopatró makes the prettiest tea towels (I really like this "All You Need Is Love" towel, which is currently out of stock, but worth checking back for). A set of these tied up with a few wooden spoons would make for a really sweet kitchen-inspired gift.

A slate cheeseboard (this one comes with its own soapstone pencil for labeling your cheeses) is an ideal gift for the couple that appreciates things that are rustic yet refined. A bottle of wine thrown in for good measure would be a nice touch.

These adorable salt and pepper shakers are just right for newly-married lovebirds. They're classic and cute.

A white, 100% cotton hemstitch tablecloth will never be out-of-date or unstylish. This one is so simple, and the beautiful hemstitched edging gives the tablecloth some texture and a lovely finish.

A set of golden dessert spoons--what could be more special? Tucked into a bowl of ice cream, these spoons would look absolutely stunning and would make dessert time feel extra indulgent and romantic.

Do any of these strike your fancy? What do you like to give to newly married couples?

  1. Oh my goodness, Kate! This post is fantastic! I love all of them!! Seriously though, I will be bookmarking this page.

I literally can't pick my favorite! Maybe those spoons, because they are so unique. But I wonder if some people wouldn't really understand why you got them spoons. But so pretty and a super fun accent!

Hey- I started a new blog, my husband and I actually are relocating to London starting in October and I started a blog about our adventures as expats. I would love it if you took a peek!

  2. These are such great ideas - I would have a hard time buying them for someone else though, unless I ordered one for myself too!

  3. What a sweet comment! Thanks Mary. Glad you liked the ideas!

An additional idea to go along with the dessert spoons (to make the gift a little more obvious) would be to include a set of pretty ice cream bowls, such as these: http://www.blisshomeanddesign.com/KITCHEN-AND-DINING/Dishes/Scallop-Ice-Cream-Bowls.html?gclid=CKHpl5CG2rgCFTFo7Aod4k8ARA.

Going to check out your blog! Congrats on your new adventure!

  4. Agreed! We were lucky enough to receive the bird salt and pepper shakers as a wedding gift. Also, Studiopatro has a sale section for their tea towels (2 for $24). They have slight imperfections but I imagine they aren't a big deal! Might be justification enough for a gift for yourself :)

  5. Such cute gift ideas! I prefer to buy unique gifts, too, and will rarely buy from a registry. Most recently I've been gifting a handmade tea kettle w/ tea cups, a bag of loose "Wedding Chai" tea, and two steepers. I've probably given this same gift at the last 6 weddings we've attended, hehe. Of course, I always pick out a unique kettle/cup set specifically for each bride & groom, though. :)

  6. What an adorable idea! I love that. Especially if you know the couple enjoys tea. I'm going to add that to my "list!" :)

  7. I love all of these, especially the tea towels! I just came across a great idea that we're going to do now and give as a wedding gift to close friends: You keep a box in the bedroom and every time you make love, you add a dollar. Obviously after awhile you'll have a savings to throw in a CD or whatever. Basically, the idea is to save for a great, big 50th wedding anniversary trip. I thought it was such a sweet idea. So, for close friends (because that's a bit personal) we're going to give them a box with cash in it to get them started.

These are perfect choices! Versatile to many couples and timeless :) I think sometimes people try to overdo the wedding gift thing, but you can't go wrong with a tea towel or a cheese board! Love that it comes with a little pencil too ;)
