I like to treat myself to the occasional bouquet of flowers from the supermarket. They brighten up the room and bring beauty into our daily lives. One thing I love to do is arrange these flowers in unexpected vessels--it's playful and fun, and makes the flowers look casual and natural in our home.
Today, I'll show you some ideas for arranging flowers in everyday containers, and I hope you will be inspired to think creatively the next time you can't resist bringing home some gorgeous blush spray roses from the market.
Would you try this? What else would make for a terrific everyday vase?
Oooh I love this! :) my friend brought me some flowers in a canning jar once, and she'd wrapped it round in twine. It was so rustic and pretty!
ReplyDeleteHow fun! I love the look of all of these, but there's something about the oatmeal tin that I'm a little obsessed with. I've also used tea tins to brighten up small places like the bathroom sink. Enjoy your lovely flowers!
ReplyDeleteI love the tin pots! and the mason jars!
ReplyDeleteOh how cute! I adore anything rustic.
ReplyDeleteThanks Sarah! The oatmeal tin is my favorite too. I love that it looks vintage (but isn't!).
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad! :)
ReplyDeleteI love the mason jar! We use jars for drinking glasses, so I have a ton laying around. I need to get flowers more often for our home...they brighten things up so much!
ReplyDeleteI just saw on the Today show this morning where someone used an old tea tin as a vase...very similar to the oats container, but I love the vintage feel to things like that.
How neat that you use mason jars for drinking glasses! Somehow that doesn't surprise me, coming from you :) That's so clever and fun.
ReplyDeleteOooh, love the teapot! I'd never thought of that before. A watering can be cute for long stem flowers by a door or entrance.
ReplyDeleteA watering can would be adorable, especially an over-sized one, by the door, as you say.
ReplyDeletevases are one of my "I have settled down" items. you know, the things you want to buy for your house but there's no point because you know you'll be moving again in x months? so I learned to get really creative, too, with what I used for vases - I love these ideas!
ReplyDeleteYes! I love using unexpected vessels! I have one of those steel cut oats tins too, but haven't put flowers in it, so thanks for the inspiration! It's darling :-). Your bunches of baby's breath remind me of my wedding bouquet! Hope you're having a good week so far Kate!
ReplyDeleteThanks Betsy, and I know what you mean. We received some beautiful vases as wedding gifts but they are still in storage, waiting for us to buy our first home!
ReplyDeleteThanks Kristin! Oh I bet your wedding bouquet was lovely, I think baby's breath are adorable and under-appreciated. I have a little bunch of them on my bedside table now. Hope you're having a good week too!
ReplyDeleteWe used mason jars at our wedding and I still love them. I love this idea and it is so rustic and chic. I need to go get myself a galvanized pail! And the oatmeal tin is something I see my mom doing. She's into that stuff so I guess it rubbed off on me. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tina! So cute that you had mason jars at your wedding. I found that pail for a few dollars at a thrift shop! But they are sold in all kinds of places. Just don't get one that's too shiny, you want it to look cottage-y and worn :)
