I've seen this ad on YouTube a few times, and there's something about it that really touches me. (Is that silly?) I think it's a combination of the sweet faces on these young girls, the pretty music, and the sad message. I don't have children yet but for some reason I can imagine one of these girls being my daughter, and thinking she is just the most beautiful little thing, and wondering how she can't see that herself.
Do watch it, and tell me if you were moved by it (or am I the only one who gets teary over ads?).
Being a teenage girl stinks! This is such a great campaign. We do a program called Girls on the Run at my school where we sponsor our students as they run a 5k. I love it. They do self esteem building activities as a group as well. This is such a problem for so many girls. Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteAWWW! That add was so moving! I cry at everything anyway so clearly this made me tear up! In a good way! This is such an unfortunate issue that I hope we one day can change!
ReplyDeleteThat sounds like a neat program! I think having adult female friends and mentors at that age is really wonderful.
ReplyDeleteOk good, I'm not alone! :)
ReplyDeleteThis is definitely a sweet ad! It's sad to think that there is such pressure to look a certain way even for such young girls, but it's great that programs like Dove's exist that bolster self-esteem.
ReplyDeleteI know, I think it's sweet too. I do think it's a phase for most girls, and that it's pretty normal to feel self-conscious at that age, but very sad when it gets to the point of quitting fun activities as a result.
