Sunday Currently: Volume 12

Some wholesome fun with my honey.

Reading A Severe Mercy, still! I'm reading about the couple's conversion to Christianity and how it affected their marriage. There's a lot to think about so I've been reading it slowly and thoughtfully.

Writing some thoughts, notes, and lists.

Listening to an Airborne tablet fizzle in my water glass. I've been feeling under the weather for the past few days.

Thinking about how much better it is to go through life with a companion and best friend always at your side. I've been feeling low lately--emotionally and physically--and my husband has not only put up with me but has gone out of his way to listen to me, encourage and cheer me, and empathize with me.

Smelling my grapefruit Airborne drink. I actually think it tastes good!

Wishing my husband didn't have to travel for the next few days. I'm going to miss him.

Hoping for a great week ahead!

Wearing skinny jeans that are ripped at the knees but too comfortable to throw away, and one of my husband's shirts. I just changed and this outfit feels just right for the day.

Drinking Airborne. I promise, this is the last time I'll mention it.

Loving good, simple, fun at home. Last night, we played a round of Bananagrams before making lasagna together, then we watched a great documentary that inspired a lot of talk. I love nights like that.

Wanting my health to kick back into gear. My body is a bit out of whack these days.

Needing a piano tuning. The tuner is coming in the morning and I'm looking forward to practicing on a freshly tuned piano tomorrow afternoon.

Feeling just ok. But I think that's alright. I'm about to click through some of the other Sunday Currently posts, so maybe that will cheer me up!

Clicking on Netflix (well, last night we were). We watched a documentary called The Business of Being Born and it was both beautiful and fascinating. I loved it. If you're interested in the idea of natural delivery and midwives and home birth, you should definitely watch it. Childbirth is truly miraculous!

  1. Airborne! That stuff is amazing... and I think it tastes good too. :)

I think it's just a ripped jeans and comfy tee kind of day. I hope you feel better soon and that the airborne wards off any sickness that is coming your way.

That documentary sounds like a good watch :) I'm sorry to hear you're feeling down, Kate. Josh has been working a lot lately and I find it's hard to be alone so often without having my family living nearby - although they're not as far from me as your family is from you! Hope things start looking up soon. You could plan a vacation or mini-break to look forward to - that's what I'm doing :)

  3. Thanks Ashley! So funny that you like the taste of Airborne too--and yes, doesn't it totally work? I love it.

  4. Thanks so much Katie :) I appreciate that. I'm also sorry to hear that you've been alone at home at lot without your hubby--that's so hard! A vacation sounds like a perfect idea. :)

You seriously must watch the documentary. I'm sure you've already decided what you're doing for your birth, but you will love watching it and feel inspired and empowered. Tell me what you think if you watch :)

  5. Where's the game board? How do you do triple words and all of that loveliness? (Can you tell I'm really in it for the competition?) I love wearing my husband's shirts when I'm lounging around the house. It's the best!

  6. We're on the same wave length... I watched The Business of Being Born on Netflix last weekend! I'm posting my thoughts on it later this week!!

  7. Haha whoa. Sounds intense! I'm not competitive at all when it comes to board games, but it's fun to play with people who are!

  8. Kate, that's so funny! I can't wait to read your post about it.

  9. I love this post! You are so honest about feeling blue and you aren't trying to sugar coat anything. So refreshing, although I do hope you feel back to normal soon!

I love Business of Being Born! We watched it our first year of marriage, and it convinced us to try for our natural birth. Beautiful movie! I kind of want to watch it again now. :)

  10. Thanks Leah, you're really nice to say that. Your comment made me smile :)

I could have guessed that you watched and loved that documentary! I'm so inspired too, and will definitely be thinking hard about home birth when we are pregnant.

  11. I hope you start feeling better! Those airborne drinks are great though! And bananagrams, love that game =) That outfit sounds amazing, I was wearing a big baggy mens shirt all day yesterday and it was great!!! Why are their shirts so comfy??? I'm glad you are reading A Severe Mercy, I loved that book!!! I know, the conversion part and how it affected their relationship was quite something. I remember it being difficult for the wife to understand everything.

  12. Thanks Maggie! I steal my husband's clothes all the time, I love them! And yes I'm so enjoying the book. It's quite emotional, conversion seems like an incredible experience.

  13. Oh banangrams =) Such simple fun!! I have one or two pieces of clothing that are in exactly the same condition...so hard to throw away when they are still so comfortable...

I hope you are feeling better soon =) I know it won't make it any easier to have your husband gone for the next few days, but hopefully you can get in some rest and quiet time!!

  14. Thanks Katie :) I hope I'll snap out of it soon. Counting the days until he's back, because everything is better when he's here!

  15. Ugh, I totally hear you on wanting health to return! The past few months I have gotten more than my fair share of colds, and something needs to change. I hope that you start to feel better, and I'll send some good thoughts your way. Your night with your husband sounds so perfect! I love evenings like that so so much. I think I have more fun staying at home than going out sometimes!

  16. I think my whole body is just out of balance. Sometimes I get so frustrated because I'm a very healthy person in terms of eating, sleep, exercise, etc., yet my system can still get thrown out of whack. Ugh!! It makes you realize how complex we are and vulnerable, too. Hope you're feeling better, and thanks for the happy thoughts :)

  17. Stacey, how fascinating! I'm so happy you decided to watch it and that you were so inspired! I feel exactly the same way. Our bodies know what to do, and that should be celebrated! Thanks for letting me know how it touched you.

  18. Sarah, how amazing that you had a home birth. I think that this documentary very well may have changed our lives too. I've always known I wanted a natural birth, and recently I've become interested in the idea of midwives and doulas, but I hadn't even considered not having our children in hospitals. While we won't be making any firm decisions until we're pregnant, my husband and I are both now completely intrigued and inspired by the idea of home birth, and yes we will very much consider it. I will remember this comment and reach out to you when the time comes to actually decide--I'd love to hear more about your experience.

  19. I loved that documentary! As someone who already planned on having a natural home birth, I found the whole thing fascinating. I love that it's becoming a more popular choice, when just a generation ago, when my mom had me, it was not.

  20. i actually think that airborne is delicious! one of my bridesmaids was very sick the weekend of my wedding, & she practically kept a glass of it in my hand at all times, so she wouldn't get me sick. i guess it's kind of a sweet little memory.

i hope that you get to feeling better emotionally soon. what a comfort husbands can be!
