Sunday Currently, Volume 3

Today's devotion

Currently...

Reading The Age of Innocence by Edith Wharton. I finished The Woman in White and was absolutely enthralled all the way through. I highly recommend it. Over the last few months, the Mother-Daughter Book Club has taken a little hiatus, and we've just decided to put The Age of Innocence next on the agenda.

Writing this post, and not too much else!

Listening to Ingrid Michaelson. I love her music and think she has a beautiful voice.

Thinking about how quickly January is flying by. Don't you think?

Smelling French Lavender hand soap I just put in our bathroom. I love how the scent lingers on my hands.

Wishing I didn't have to go grocery shopping today. I usually don't mind it, but this last week I've felt uninspired when it comes to cooking. That might be a middle-of-January phenomenon. While I'm not ready for the spring/summer heat, I am ready for summer produce!

Hoping I'll figure out a pretty, lasting way to display our one-year anniversary cards when I visit my favorite local antique shop today. I've been looking for a few weeks and haven't found anything quite right. I have an idea mulling around my mind though, so I'll keep you posted!

Wearing this comfortable robe/cardigan in an oatmeal color. I bought it last year to wear on my wedding day as I was getting ready, and it was perfect! Cozy and easy to slip off without ruining my hair and makeup. Since then, I've loved wearing it with leggings for plane trips, over jeans at home when I'm chilly, and I think it might be cute belted and worn as a dress with tights, too.

Drinking a strawberry banana smoothie with flax seed and oats. Yum!

Loving the cute, single-serving, red blender I bought last weekend at Target, which I used to make this morning's smoothie.

Wanting to move out of the South. Our time here was supposed to be much more temporary than it has proven to be and I'm feel very anxious these days to relocate.

Needing a haircut! Luckily I have one scheduled for Wednesday. For the last few months, I've been sporting an all-one-length, collarbone-length cut (this was my inspiration) and I really love it. I don't think I'll go back to layers for awhile.

Feeling ready for a new week.

Clicking on this Daily Bible Devotion app I just downloaded for my iPhone. There is an "AM" Bible verse and a "PM" Bible verse, and each one is accompanied by a short Christian message. I just started using it but so far I find it inspiring and a good pick-me-up.

  1. Lavender scents are the best! I have the Mrs. Meyers hand and dish soaps, and they always bring a smile to my face. "The Age of Innocence" is on my booklist, too, and I've been wanting to read that for a while now. You'll have to post your reaction!

  3. Oh I love Ingrid Michaelson's voice too. :)

I keep reading about everyone's delicious smoothie recipes, and yours sounds amazing too. We really need to get a blender, so I can make these yummy sounding smoothies too.

Maybe I'll add one of those books to my reading list... I can always use some recommendations.

  4. Love Ingrid Michaelson. Love her voice. :) And that cardigan is an absolute dream!

Be careful on the haircut front. I just had my hair cut on Thursday and it's 5 inches shorter than before due to so many split ends. I think I liked it better with the split ends.... ;)

  5. Haha oh no! That's not good. I think that's a long hair thing. I get my hair trimmed every 6 weeks and my hairstylist knows exactly what I like, so I don't think that will happen, but thanks for the warning!

  6. Do get a blender! I held out for awhile too but the one we got was inexpensive, and does a great job. So I'm happy with it!

  7. I think I am going to follow your example and link up with the "currently" series as well! I have enjoyed reading yours the last few weeks. And like you, I am also desperate for a haircut this week. :) I love getting my hair done but for some reason I always put it off until I just can't take the split ends anymore.

  10. I'm so glad! We are in the same boat--we haven't found a church we love here so we've been doing other things to nurture our faith until we relocate (soon we hope). I really hope you like using it. :)

  13. Hi Maggie! Love this comment! So glad you found me through Lauren's link-up. I love writing these posts. Yes, I very much love a fresh haircut, I can't wait until Wednesday!

How neat that you know and love Verily! I have ordered a print subscription but they have not sent out their first issue yet. I think it's a feminine and wholesome magazine, so wonderful, and I've been enjoying their blog while I wait for my first issue.

Thanks so much for stopping by! :)

  14. YAY for wholesome and yet up-to-date and modern women's magazines!!! I did get my copy of the teaser issue in the mail. I'm so bummed though. I was looking for my copy the other day and it seems as though I've misplaced it :( Is the first issue available for purchase then? I need to look into that pronto! =) I can't wait to for more issues!!! I'm your newest follower! Have a great evening.

  16. Thanks for following!!

Yes, you can purchase a subscription but I don't think the first real issue will be sent out for another few months (I think early 2013 was as specific as they got with the pub date). And I'm glad you shared the button! I'm going to check out your blog now :)

  17. I've never read The Age of Innoocence, but I saw the movie a few years ago - there's this scene where he kisses her wrist and it is the most intimate and daring thing and it just totally stuck with me. what a thrill for them! wish we could get back those sorts of stolen moments that modernity steals away, you know?

  18. Yes! Absolutely. I know exactly what you mean. The modesty of the past made every little touch a thrill. My husband has commented before that it would be so amazing to have your first kiss at the altar--wouldn't it?! It would just be incredibly special and transcendent.
