Finger Lakes Feast is not just a cookbook. It's full of gorgeous photographs....
Lots of wonderful essays and quirky fun facts on food and local history and agriculture...
Do you know how many miles a honeybee has to fly to gather enough nectar for a single pound of honey?
55,000 miles.
The equivalent of circling the earth more than twice.
And of course, it is full of delicious and colorful recipes...
Rustic Apple Spice Cake
Cilantro Shrimp Risotto
Capron Street Buttermilk Pancakes
Black Beans and Coconut Rice with Mango Salsa
Creole Sausage on Jack Cornbread
French Chocolate Pudding
Raspberry Red-Wine Sorbet
and so many more.
Local author and NPR contributor, Amy Dickinson, writes that, "Finger Lakes Feast unlocks the delicious mystery and quirky history behind our local foods and flavors. Now everyone will learn what we locals know: our wines and foods are the perfect expression of the beautiful region they come from. They are simple, hardy, and full of life and flavor."

I would love a chance to win another--signed--copy of your cookbook! (And you were wise to give people several days to enter. If I could do my little book giveaway contest over, I would give people more than a day to respond.)
ReplyDeleteI thought your giveaway was lovely! Thanks for giving me the great idea to do one myself.

Good point, Mike! If you win, I would feel good knowing that our book may help you learn a few recipes (oh, and your girlfriend would love it if you cooked for her!).

DeleteI really don't need another copy as I've ordered many, but I do want to say I've shown it everyone I can think of, brought it along to shops to promote it, sold it at our community holiday sale, and can't wait to give it as gifts this year. And the pfeffernusse turned out great!

ReplyDeleteFrom all the excerpts I've seen, your cookbook seems wonderful. I especially appreciate the way you and your dad and brother were able to show us that cookbooks can be so much more than just recipes and directions. You've made it educational and entertaining, through the captivating photography, delicious recipes, and the shared knowledge on such a fascinating region, and so I admire that a lot :) I already have several people in mind who would love such a gift...myself included...and I'm doing my best to spread the word. Congratulations to the three of you on such an exciting accomplishment!
ReplyDeleteThanks Andrea, you're a wonderful and loyal friend.
DeleteKate - haven't seen you/Steve in a while but I love your blog and your book looks amazing! Count me in!

ReplyDeleteKate, I just left a short (5-star!) review on Amazon. It's under the pseudonym "TJ," because the only Amazon purchases we've made have been through the e-mail account my husband and I share, so it recognized me as him. I tried to set up my own account, but it didn't work. Anyway, I love the book! I hope you have a lot of success with it!
ReplyDeleteI love the pictures. Thanks for the chance.
